The relationship you have with your therapist can be transformative.  It’s the foundation for healing and growth. I provide a safe, secure place for you to feel comfortable and begin to gently explore what’s keeping you stuck – patterns and behaviors that may have helped you cope at one time but are no longer working for you. I focus on building a relationship of trust that is based on empathy, acceptance, authenticity, and collaboration. I draw from humanistic, existential and primarily Emotion-Focused theory and practices to uncover core maladaptive emotions resulting from unmet needs. Together we will work to relieve your suffering and actually transform those painful core emotions into adaptive and empowering emotions. This is true healing. I am passionate about embarking on this journey with you.

My Approach

While I draw from humanistic, existential, attachment, and psychodynamic theories, my main approach is Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I have found it to be the most powerful orientation to treat human suffering of every kind.  EFT is process oriented – that is to say it is experiential. Together we will work to actually transform core painful emotions that underly symptoms of anxiety, loneliness and isolation, depression, and trauma. Those maladaptive emotions are transformed into adaptive emotions that relieve and empower individuals and couples.  In this empirically based approach, each and every client can achieve real and positive change.
